Nordic Journal of Religion and Society (NJRS):

Profile

The aim of the journal is to be an arena for all disciplines that study the field of relations between religion, churches, religious institutions, culture and society.

Nordic Journal of Religion and Society (NJRS) is the only Nordic journal devoted to these issues. Sociology of religion is a key discipline, but NJRS also includes contributions from scholars in psychology of religion, religious studies, church history and theology. The journal only publishes articles in English. NJRS is a referee journal. Two issues per year.

The journal started in 1988 as a result of the programme "Church, Religion and Society" financed by the Norwegian Research Council. Jan Ove Ulstein (Volda University College) was editor for the first 16 years. In 2000 KIFO got involved with Editorial Secretary from KIFO's staff and the journal was published at Tapir Academic Press. The layout and cover changed. In 2004 the editorial committee was replaced, and with Inger Furseth (KIFO) and Pål Repstad (Agder University College) as editors. In 2005 the name was changed to "Nordic Journal of Religion and Society". (Untill 2005: Tidsskrift for kirke, religion og samfunn)
